A number of ARI and University representatives attended the inaugural DSTO partnership briefings at DSTO Edinburgh this week.
This was a generous on site briefing and overview of the research activities, interests and future directions of DSTO, run to spark and foster further partnering to achieve better outcomes for Australian Defence and its industry and academic partners. It also covered DSTO’s new partnering initiatives, including technology seed funding and licensing models (including an “easy access” like approach that they intend to introduce).
The University of Adelaide already has a long and proud history of interaction with DSTO, but this was a welcome initiative to help better inform people of opportunities. For those less familiar with the research areas and structural elements of DSTO, an overview of their research is available here and an overview of their core divisions is available here
Further details about the event are available here.
Defence’s Concept Technology Demonstrator program – which ARI and the University have successfully accessed on a number of past projects (in independent bids and in conjunction with industry) - is currently open for applications.
